Batch rendering

With Batch Rendering, you outsource rendering jobs from pCon.planner to an external process. While you continue working in pCon.planner, your images, panoramas and videos are calculated in the background.

Functionality

  • External rendering with the settings for OSPRay
  • Calculation of several views or cameras of a planning one after the other
  • Usable for photorealistic images, panoramas and animations
  • pCon.planner fully usable during image calculation

Batch rendering uses the global visibility settings. If you have hidden an object from the planning in a single viewport, it will still be displayed in the calculated image. To make the object invisible in the image, you must hide it globally: You do this either in the Start tab, Visibility group; Layer Filter: All or in the Layers dialog.

Use batch rendering for single images

  1. Open the Image dialog ( Presentation tab)
  2. In the image dialog please set OSPRay as renderer
  3. Make your settings for rendering in the image dialog or select a profile
  4. Choose the type - image or panorama
  5. Click the Export button and select Export
  6. This opens the Select Views window. Select the cameras and views you want to calculate as a photorealistic image by mouse click
  7. Click Export. A render job is created from your exported views and cameras. The image calculation starts in the background

Use batch rendering for animations

Batch rendering can calculate the individual frames of an animation from pCon.planner.
To create a compressed video, you can use the program Avidemux.

  1. Open the video dialog ( Presentation tab)
  2. Select the animation you want to calculate
  3. Set OSPRay as renderer
  4. Make your settings for rendering, respectively select a profile
  5. Click the Export button and select Export
  6. Batch rendering calculates the frames of the animation
  7. Save single images in local directory
  8. Process single frames to compressed video: Open first frame of animation with Avidemux, set output profile (choose codec etc.) and save video

Manage render jobs in the browser

A new tab opens in your default browser, where you can view the progress of the image calculation and manage your render jobs.
Note: If you have closed the browser window by mistake, call it up again via the Windows taskbar. Click the batch rendering icon.
In the browser, you will see a list of running as well as pending render jobs. Here you have the following options:
